Another success story for Robotron NZ which showcases the power of partnering with the right organisations. Three months after launch we are successfully delivering results for our partner, Ecotricity, who are contracted by Orion to deliver this innovative and exciting trial.
This collaboration aims to manage peak electricity demand by harnessing the distributed energy resources (DER) of solar and battery owning consumers in the Lincoln area. It's a pivotal step towards decarbonisation and enhancing network capacity and reliability, demonstrating the power of community-partnered energy solutions.
This innovative trial is delivering a significant 100 kW of network support to the Lincoln area this winter, with this level expected to grow to 500 kW by next year.
Lincoln is a quickly growing university town south of Christchurch. Its rapid growth means electricity demand sometimes threatens to exceed supply on cold Winter days. This provides an ideal opportunity to trial the use of DER to support the network at peak times.
