Infratec, a leading innovator in New Zealand’s transition to a low carbon energy market, has partnered with Robotron New Zealand to bring a 35MW / 33 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to market in 2023.
The BESS, being installed near Huntly in the WEL Networks region, will be capable of powering 2,000 homes along with reserves capability to support the national grid.
Infratec required a software partner capable of providing a full, integrated solution to manage the complexities of the New Zealand energy market and provide control functionality to charge and discharge the BESS. Key requirements include:
- Forecasting
- Managing sales & purchase contracts
- Generating and submitting bids & offers to the market
- Receiving Transpower signals and controlling the BESS
- Provision of reconciliation data to the market
- Scalable in line with Infratec’s growth strategy
